Fishing Report
1/14
As cooler temperatures settle in, walleye are beginning their move into deeper water, typically holding in the 10–16 foot range. With the arrival of a cold front, the walleye bite is expected to slow, requiring a more patient and finesse-driven approach.
That said, there’s still plenty of action to be had. Crappies are providing the most consistent bite right now, with healthy numbers of perch and bluegills mixed in. These panfish are actively feeding and making for a productive day on the water. For best results, red spikes and wax worms continue to be top-producing baits for crappies.
Overall, while the walleye action may be tapering off temporarily, the strong panfish bite is keeping rods bending and coolers filling. Now is a great time to adjust tactics, target mixed schools, and enjoy steady action as fall conditions continue to set in.
