When you're planning on a trip to Three Lakes this fall there are so many things you need to do. To start with, the overall nature and beauty of Three Lakes in the fall is unmatched. You can enjoy hiking, fishing, paddling, cranberries and so much more.
Trails
Fall is the best time of year to walk or bike a trail. One of the best trails to bike or walk on is the Three Eagle Trail. This trail connects Three Lakes and Eagle River. It’s very calm and peaceful, especially this time of year! The next trail is the Sam Campbell trail. The Sam Campbell trail is located in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National forest. The 1.25-mile interpretive loop is an easy walk that winds through a mix of pine, hardwood, and balsam forest. Both of these trails are a great way to get outdoors and enjoy the beauty of fall in Three Lakes
Chain of Lakes
The Three Lakes chain of lakes is the spot you can have fun on all year round. Make the chain of lakes you go to this fall to see all of the colors reflecting off the water, fishing, paddling, and so much more. Fishing is a fan favorite in Three Lakes this time of year. Walleye are definitely hot this time of year and the best spots to find them are rock points, deeper cribs and outside weed areas. All you need is a half a night crawler to reel in the best fish. If you want to just enjoy the water this summer, enjoy paddling the Three Lakes chain and take in all the fall colors as the lakes start to slow down.
Coffee
Name a better way to start a fall morning than getting up and heading into Deja Brew or Mugs and Co to get your favorite hot coffee. Don’t just stop at coffee, enjoy the different things that both coffee shops have to offer like fresh acie bowls at Deja Brew or pumpkin bread at Mugs and Co. Both coffee shops have a lot to offer and will start your fall day right!
Cranberries
Fall is also cranberry season, and Three Lakes is right in the heart of it. Local cranberry marshes come alive this time of year with bright red berries floating in the fields. Want a tour? Head on over to Lake Nokomis for a tour of the marsh. The current times to go on a marsh tour at Lake Nokomis are Monday - Wednesday at 1pm and Thursday - Saturdays at 11am and 1pm. Bring the whole family to experience the fun at the cranberry marsh.
Food
After a long day of fall fun the best way to end the day is getting a good dinner at a restaurant right here in three lakes. A casual, relaxed spot ideal for a drink or casual meal is a tavern on the loop located on HWY 45. For a more “upscale casual” dining option, Claytons offers a comfortable atmosphere, which is located on HWY 45. Black Forest is a great option for a group to sit down together and have a great meal, located right on main street. Sorellas is a great place to go if you are looking for more of an Italian feel of food, with such an amazing atmosphere located on HWY 45.
