A Storied History

The history of Watercraft Sales is as rich as the waters it serves. In 1917, Jim Guterson founded the business on Island Lake, part of the Three Lakes/Eagle River Chain of 28 Lakes, to meet the growing demand for boat mechanics. Named "Watercraft Sales," it offered boat and motor sales, service, gasoline, and boat accessories. As a friend of Ole Evinrude, Guterson carried Evinrude Outboards, along with Higgins, Dodge Water Cars, Chris Craft Launches, and outboards from Rhinelander Boat Co.John Lamon Sr Watercraft Boat House

Over the decades, Watercraft Sales flourished under various owners, each adding their unique touch. In 1960, John Lamon, Sr., a WWII Air Force pilot and former POW, bought the company. John's personal touch, such as servicing boats with his seaplane, is fondly remembered. His contributions led to one of the first mobile services on the Three Lakes Chain.

After John Sr.’s passing in 1991, his son John Jr. and his wife Noreen took the helm. Under their leadership, Watercraft Sales became the oldest Nautique boat dealer globally and the first Bennington dealer in the state. The company celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2017, with John Jr. and Noreen’s children continuing the family legacy.

As The Boat House Three Lakes, we honor this storied past while looking forward to an exciting future. We invite you to join us as we embark on this new chapter, filled with the same dedication to excellence and personal service that has defined us for over a century.
