Bret & Frisk Concert in the Park and POTLUCK

The final concert of the Three Lakes Concerts in the Park season will start 30
minutes earlier at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, August 6, as the popular Northwoods
duo of Bret & Frisk return to close out summer.
Prior to the concert, community members are invited to bring a dish to pass and
join in an informal community potluck. Bring your own plates and silverware,
picnic items, chair, and beverage, and share a meal starting at 5:30 PM.
The acoustic folk harmonies of Bret & Frisk are familiar sounds at the Cy
Williams Park gazebo. The husband and wife group have performed regularly on
the Concerts in the Park series in Three Lakes, and are seasonal favorites with
the concert audience.
Bret and Frisk Miller have been performing together for over 20 years, since they
met at an open microphone event in Breckenridge, Colorado. They make their
home in Land o’ Lakes, and are regular performers at venues around the
Northwoods, ranging from picnics and festivals to community concert events.
Audiences are encouraged to make requests from their repertoire of over 400
songs, making their shows more personal than most music acts.

The Three Lakes Historical Society welcomes “Flying Blind,” a new Northwoods
6-piece ensemble that offers a whole experience in their performances.
This group of veteran Northwoods performers is committed to playing the music
they have always wanted to perform. They dig into the era of classic rock to find
“the songs you forgot you loved,” the hidden gems and deep cuts from the 60s
and beyond and brings them to you live on stages across the area.

Woodland Strings Concert in the Park

The Three Lakes Concerts in the Park series is pleased to announce the return
of a Northwoods’ favorite group, the Woodland Strings, on Tuesday, July 23 at 7
PM.
The Woodland Strings have been making music together for more than 20 years.
What began as a string quartet has now grown into a small orchestra complete
with violins, violas, cello and bass. They have been seen regularly at a variety
of venues around the Northwoods, both summer and winter.
It is a unique group, blending a variety of musical genres and styles. Their
diverse repertoire includes timeless classics, Broadway and movie hits, mariachi,
tangos, Celtic jigs, contemporary, pop, and new music – a perfect
accompaniment for a summer’s evening with friends. Woodland Strings' goal is to
perform often and delight audiences with songs that recall wonderful memories
while creating new experiences.

Mark Wayne Concert in the Park

Mark Wayne returns to the Three Lakes Concerts in the Park on Tuesday
evening, July 16, at 7 PM. The performance will feature live vocals and live pedal
steel guitar classic hits from favorite performers of the 20 th century.
Mark Wayne performs the styles and songs of Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Josh Turner,
Patsy Cline, Marshall Tucker, Merle Haggard, Waylon and Willie, Mary Robbins,
Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Dire Straits, and much, much, more. He is especially
known as a Johnny Cash impersonator.
Born in Beaver Dam, WI, in 1969, he started playing guitar at 11, and steel guitar
at age 12. From 1999-2006, Mark toured with the Nashville Recording artists'
"Harbor Lighthouse", and has won national awards as a steel guitarist.
He has been the producer of Clear Blue Studios and Clear Blue Entertainment
since 1996. Mark is now a performer and entertainer, combining vocals and steel
playing with original, custom-made rhythm tracking from his studio. Mark has
also performed with The Skip Wagner Show.

Rhinelander Area Community Band Concert in the Park

The Three Lakes Historical Society welcomes the Rhinelander Area Community
Band back to the Three Lakes Concert in the Park series on Tuesday, July 9.
The Rhinelander Area Community Band has been entertaining audiences in the
Northwoods for more than 35 years, and performing in Three Lakes has become
a summer tradition.
Under the direction of Jim Pekol, the nearly 60-piece band performs a variety of
music that spans the generations. Musicians of all ages volunteer their time and
come from communities throughout northern Wisconsin.
Membership in the non-audition community band reaches far beyond
Rhinelander and includes instrumentalists from communities across the
Northwoods, including Tomahawk, Minocqua, Eagle River, Crandon and Three
Lakes. Members include part-time and seasonal "snowbirds" and full-time
residents ranging in age from high school to 93, and all ranges of abilities. The
one thing all members have in common is a love for playing music in a group,
and sharing that music with appreciative audiences.

A new Northwoods group, Act III, will make their Three Lakes Concerts in the
Park debut on Tuesday, July 2 nd at 7 PM.
This new group plays a variety of favorite tunes of the 20 th and 21 st centuries that
guarantees to have you singing along. This trio of musicians employs versatile
instrumentation, and make the old songs sound new while bringing a fresh spin
to contemporary hits. They use keyboards, guitar, flute, sax, clarinet, bass and
percussion to back the vocals to blend new with old for a unique concert
experience.

The Edward U. Demmer Memorial Library has just completed a renovation project, along with some new space for the Historical Society. The community is invited to celebrate with us The Next Chapter of the Demmer legacy! Students will also be able to join in a Penny War throughout the week as a fundraising effort for orphans located in Haiti.

The Vacation Bible School will take place on the grounds of Three Lakes Evangelical Free Church, 1614 Highway 32 in Three Lakes. Sessions will be held during the evenings of June 23-27 from 5:45-8:00 p.m. A cost of $5 per child will help to cover provided snacks and craft supplies. GB’s Dance Band Concert in the Park

GB’s Dance Band will kick off the summer Concerts in the Park series at Cy
Williams Park in Three Lakes on Tuesday evening, June 25.
This seven-piece big band performs a variety of popular hits from the 1930’s to
the 1960’s. GB’s Dance Band celebrates music of the big band era with their own
55+ year tradition of performing big band music throughout Wisconsin. Originally
established as the Greiner Brothers Orchestra in 1956 by Glenn and Ralph
Greiner in Edgar, Wisconsin, it is now known as GB’s Dance Band under the
direction of local musician, Jim Pekol. More than 30 musicians have performed
with the group during their long history.
